Elizabeth Geiger

Elizabeth Geiger received her BA in painting and mathematics from the University of Virginia in 1990 and continued her art studies at both the New York Studio School and the Vermont Studio Center. She is known for her dramatic still-life paintings in which she incorporates historical influences into her thoughtfully arranged compositions.

“The still life has become predominant for me because of the freedom it gives me to choose, arrange, and edit a setup,” Geiger says. “Or as a friend of mine puts it – I am the writer, producer, and director or my own opera.”

Geiger has been the focus of numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the Eastern United States. She received a professional fellowship in 2007 from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Geiger’s artwork appears in many private and public collections.
