Chris Armstrong

Chris Armstrong (b. 1967, Lewisburg, PA - d. 2019, Gloucester, MA) received his BA from Bucknell University and continued his education at New York University where he received his MFA. Best known for his monochromatic waterscapes, Armstrong's dramatic paintings convey the essence of the sea, imbued with qualities of unpredictability and vastness. He related his imagery to a meditative process where water is both an object and symbol, varying from contemplations of open sea to turbulent waves.

Armstrong has been in numerous group and solo shows. His work is collected by the Bennington Fine Art Museum, Geisinger Medical Center, Fidelity Investments, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, among others.
