Reflections and Shadows: Steve Mills
Gallery Henoch is pleased to present "Reflections and Shadows," a solo exhibition of fifteen photorealistic paintings by Florida based artist Steve Mills.
Steve Mills' work is characterized by keen attention to detail and technical mastery, both hallmarks of the photorealist genre. Mills perceives Photorealism as a laboratory where he can experiment with light, texture, and color resulting in artworks that are seemingly indistinguishable from reality, compelling viewers to look closer, to examine the fine details.
Drawing inspiration from his daily experiences, Mills often takes cues from casual observations that he later brings to life in his studio. His oeuvre encompasses a variety of domestic subjects, such as newspapers, toy marbles, breakfast scenes, and crossword puzzles, as well as landscapes and beach scenes. Furthermore, Mills is known for infusing his compositions with subtle narratives that often evoke an emotional response from his audience. Paintings titled 'Colorful News' or 'Breakfast for Two' hint at such storylines, offering a deeper connection between the viewer and his art, transcending the simple representation of objects.
"Reflections and Shadows", Steve Mills' third solo exhibition at Gallery Henoch, will be on view from April 6 - 29, 2023.
