Carin Gerard

Carin Gerard (b. Santa Monica, CA) received her BFA at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and completed her studies in Italy at the Charles Cecil Atelier and the Florence Academy of Art. Her subject matter centers on larger-than-life flowers and butterflies. While her methods are reflective of the Old Masters, her aesthetic is quite contemporary.

Gerard’s paintings evoke the ever-changing beauty of nature. She explains, “The flowers I study and paint are living and dying in the same breath, and hold beauty at every stage… My hope is for my work to consistently offer an element of timely, provocative surprise.” Currently based in Montecito, CA, Gerard has participated in group shows and solo exhibitions in California, New York, and Italy. Her work is found in numerous private collections across the country.
